Never aimed to have a blog, but this happens when a person is too long-winded to just cut off his or her comments.

http://justgrace.blogtownhall.com/2009/12/07/just_justice.thtml
If you would like to go to the Townhall site listed above you can read my first post, "Just Justice?" It started out as a reply to the criticism against one of the pro-Huckabee articles, but they rejected me :P because I can't limit myself to 2,000 words. Maybe my new writing course will help me learn to pare things down.

Because I am a coward at heart and have an actual allergy to contention, I have not allowed for comments. (It can get pretty nasty over there.) However, since you people here are so kind, you are invited to comment here or PM me. Thanks. And please give ideas of topics people might be interested in reading.

Good job, justgrace! Do you feel inspired to write about the fact that people are criticizing GH for defending himself & allegedly blaming others when the 4 policemen haven't even had their burial services yet? I am really irked by the people who say that & I would love to see a response to it out there on the net. These vipers didn't hesitate to try to trash our guy when the victims' bodies were practically still warm and the situation wasn't even resolved yet.

They are still putting together some of the facts of the case & trying to resolve who did what, even at this point, and these political ambulance chasers had no scruples about piling on. Was GH supposed to sit back & let them trash his good name & reputation without speaking in his own defense & leave them alone to try to convince the public that he was responsible for what happened in WA? How unreasonable is that? Grrr...

Thanks Hucky in Kentucky, and Quo Vadis Anima.

I will try to reach a new level of accountibility and accuracy. Please let me know if I err, and I will try to correct it in the next blog. Also, I am beginning a new writing course with mentors with the Christian Writer's Guild, and I feel very blessed to have real help in writing more clearly. I hope they can do something about this habit of being too wordy, too!! Pray for me to develop a thicker skin!

Quo Vadis Anima, I may just write something about your subject of criticizing Huckabee while the police officers were not yet buried. Do you have any sources? My problem is not being very well-sourced, which I hope CWG will help correct. I did, however, get my viewpoint in on one comment on McCullough's article about the talk show host who said "Huckabee is dead and put a bullet in his head." It was a little harsh for me, and reading it again makes me a bit ashamed at my own anger, but here it is: (Southern Doc, if you read this you will see how I strayed from my own belief in not judging motives and did what you suggest--judged by their "fruit." )

Quote:
Is Townhall for conservative values?
Is it made up of reasonable, good people?
Do the readers mostly oppose liberal Democrat ideas and pull together for Republican candidates?

This was my impression until I came here to the comments section. This is a cesspool of pride in self, throwing unfounded accusations, no grace and no self-control or politeness!! There is no reasonableness or willingness to get the facts. Whatever your religion, many of you here are disgracing it by your hateful speech.

If conservatives would like to change America, they must get over this religious or sectarian pride and come together on what we value: freedom to work for the goals of liberty, fairness in less taxation, smaller government, and preservation of life. And it wouldn't hurt to take a course or two in etiquette.

You wrote a very fair and needed column, Kevin, and I hope the fact that American politics has descended into the pit will NOT keep you from standing for fairness and truth. Thanks for exposing the hateful and irresponsible language of the talk show host. I refuse to listen to people that talk in this manner. They obviously have no reasoning powers, and therefore they must resort to slander and rant. [That was pretty judgmental! ]

Just because some people hear the name Huckabee and immediately fly into a blind rage, and judge him in totally unfair and ungrounded ways, doesn't mean you should stop defending him. In fact, this is more of a need than ever. They spew in just the way they wouldn't want their children to talk. And they judge in just the way they wouldn't want to be judged. Shame on America's people if they are like this.

I hope it is merely a syndrome that comment sections in general have created and not a real indicator of the people of America. I hope they are wise enough to read and ponder and listen and come to their own conclusions. Those who are intransigent will never come to agreement on important matters. We need to guard against this unwillingness to listen to the other side to see if [the]viewpoints [expressed] are on target or biased. I am willing to listen, but only when the speaker or writer is reasonable and not hateful, as the talk show host you mentioned was.

If we don't mend our ways of speaking, and respect people, I fear Americans will be unwilling to listen to conservatives, just when they need to the most.

I did not see my comment when I checked Townhall this AM, so maybe it was removed.

Thanks, justgrace! Unfortunately, I think they were mainly criticisms coming from commenters on news articles and blogs rather than someone's actual column. I'll see if I can find anything...

QuoVadisAnima, this was actually my comment on Kevin McCullough's article about Huck Ain't Dead. I guess I got carried away with my dismay that the comments were so overwhelmingly vituperative and coarse against Governor Huckabee. (It's fun to use such an antiquated word--vituperative--once in awhile.)

You are so kind to offer your help, but please spend your time as you need this busy Christmas season. I just want to let you know it was not my blog "article" but rather a comment that I could not relocate. However, someday I might like to address this issue of how civil discourse and courtesy need a revival in our politics, particularly internecine arguments. I am wondering if anger is not the latest American epidemic?!

My Christmas wish list: I am praying for several things my DH (dear husband) does not see as necessities. A trip to Israel  with Governor Huckabee's tour. A laptop computer to take with me on trips so I can write and email. A wonderful camera to take better photos. A laptop computer and internet are needed so I can keep up with a mentored course in writing.

But I have learned to be content in whatsoever "state" I am. Usually.

Oh! And I do believe the Lord laid on my heart at 3:00 AM (when He usually wakes me up with such impressions) that my blog can be somewhat along the lines of Mike's would-be Vertical Politics Institute. This would allow me to address issues and ask for "verticalness," which I am not sure is the word or if it is "verticality."

Please pray for me to make a difference for conservative values, as well as for Mike Huckabee.

I truly believe God will use your gifted writing skills along with your spiritual wisdom and insights to elevate the conservative voice in cyberspace. I am still praying for the funding for the trip and will add the needed lap top computer. It would be so wonderful to have you blogging about the trip to Israel for HA and HuckPAC. God, please hear our prayers!

Sandra, you are definitely my greatest encourager here and greatest pray-er for the Israel trip. I want it so much I can taste going. But, I want to honor my husband, too, and so far he is (I think) a little fearful of my going. I must believe that what God has in store is best, but I haven't quite given up hoping. You are so kind with your comments. A true encourager.

I know several of you were interested in my great desire to go to Israel with the Gov. Huckabee tour. Well, that item on my Christmas list was a little too pricey for my husband to OK (and I can understand). BUT! He was so sweet to get me a very nice new Lenovo laptop computer for Christmas. I was actually very surprised. Maybe once I get the "wonderful camera," I will be ready to go on the next Israel trip and be the intrepid reporter for HA.

This AM I tried to post another blog post but don't think it went through. For some reason a warning came up that TownHall did not like my HTML. Any suggestions?

I will check back and see if the post went through. It is entitled "Republicans Still Not Heard on Health Care."

Thanks for your prayers. I need them.

Well! My newest blog comment was posted! http://justgrace.blogtownhall.com/2010/03/03/republicans_still_not_heard_on_health_care.thtml

I had to retype it from scratch, rather than copy and paste. I hope you will go to my TownHall blog and leave a comment. I got braver this time to allow comments. :)

Also, let me know here at HA how I could improve the writing or the thoughts.

Please check out today's article, called "Do Republicans Have a Health Care Reform Plan?"
http://justgrace.blogtownhall.com/2010/03/13/do_republicans_have_a_health_care_reform_plan.thtml

[This has been a real struggle for me to write this week. I have tried to copy and paste many times from my Word Office program, but kept getting the note "html not allowed." I pasted in "normal." So I had to go back and retype my article from scratch. Also, I wanted to post several links to helpful information but don't know how to link on TownHall. It would be nice to have a "click here" tab so readers could, for instance, read the full speeches of Boehner and Alexander. Thanks anyone who can help me. My learning curve is being bent pretty hard.]

Finally! (Sigh! Sigh!) I have finished my series on Health Care Reform on my blog. Unless I follow up with thoughts on the process of passing this bill. Or another post might follow on the unconstitutional aspects of the bill if it passes.

Please check this out and give me some comments. Thanks!
